The apothecary’s hut felt like it had grown out of the earth rather than been built upon it. Bundles of dried sage, lavender, and strange, twisted roots hung from the low wooden rafters, brushing against the tops of heads. The air was thick and warm, smelling of peppermint and wet soil. On the rough-hewn stone table, a cauldron bubbled lazily, releasing puffs of purple steam that smelled like thunderstorms. Uneven shelves lined the walls, crammed with jars containing everything from shimmering pixie dust to pickling newts. It was a cluttered, cozy chaos where magic felt ordinary.
